Saki aur Sharab
- Abhyudaya (D Prakash)
When one drinks for the first
time whether due to peer pressure or due self-will for experimentation and
starts to sway, when the whole world is roaming around him. It’s the ecstasy of
the moment which attracts one to try again. As the time lapses, slowly slowly
it becomes ones best companion, whether one wants to celebrate or cry…
But there is a woman who serves
this wine, and have been neutrally watching its short term and long term
effects. She ponders and there starts a conversation between her and the wine
she is serving. So here it goes:
Muskurati saki udel rahi may
Cheta cheta kar us pyaale me
Puch padi eka in nashedi ankho se
Kyu pita h, Kya pata hai… ?? Jawab!!
Kaun kahta h
hum gam bhulane
Ya khushiya
jatane ko pite h,
Kabhi saath to
nibhao Galib!
Hum to jhumne
au jhumane ko pite h!!
And perplexed with such reply, Saaki (‘The Lady who serves
the alcohol at bar’) turns towards the wine and there goes a conversation
between them:
Saaki kahe sharaab se,
Kya hai shabab tera,
Har koi machal kar aata h,
Aur jhumte hue jaata h…
Aaj shama bi tujhse daah kha
gayi,
Tujhme hai
kya…?
Na swaad na
khusboo,
Shamaa to phir
bhi roshan hai…
Kya giraft h teri apne parwaano par,
Junoon sa hai …!,
Bas pini h to pini h,
Chahe ghar lute ya bachche bike…
Sharab bhi has kar boli,
Hu mein dono: Dawaa aur Dosh,
Sabab aur Kabab ka rang badhati
hu
To wahi thand bhi door bhagati
hu.

As a final message, an old Japanese saying goes like this:
First a man takes a
drink
Then the drink takes
a drink
And finally drink
takes the man…
Be Careful.. ;)
